Here are answers to the most common questions. If you can’t find the answer, you’re welcome to e-mail us.

Getting started

Do I need to create an account?

No. You choose a PIN and fetch the week from SchoolSoft. Everything is stored on the phone.

Where is the data stored?

On your phone. If you share a child with another adult or connect the child’s phone, the data goes encrypted via our server. Only your phones can read it, not us.

Price and subscription

What does Skolkoll cost?

Skolkoll costs SEK 99 per year and is bought as a subscription in the App Store. New users can try it free for a week. The example family in the app is always free.

Does the subscription cover the whole family?

Yes. With Apple’s Family Sharing it applies to everyone in the family. The children’s connected phones cost nothing.

How do I cancel the subscription?

Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name and then Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, otherwise it renews. You can also tap Manage under Settings → Subscription in Skolkoll.

I’ve changed phone. How do I get the subscription back?

Sign in with the same Apple Account on the new phone and tap Restore Purchases in Skolkoll.

SchoolSoft and BankID

How do I fetch the week from SchoolSoft?

Tap Fetch the week in the app and log in as a guardian with BankID. Choose BankID on this device. Once you have identified yourself in BankID, tap ◀ Skolkoll at the top left of the phone, and the login continues in the app. Choose a week and tap Fetch week.

Why do I have to log in to SchoolSoft every week?

SchoolSoft requires BankID, and the login is only valid for a limited time. So you log in once a week, and the app fetches the whole week in one go.

How do I get back to the app from SchoolSoft?

Tap Back at the top left of the SchoolSoft page. During login there is also the link Cancel and go back to the app.

The BankID app doesn’t open

Choose BankID on this device. If the BankID app still doesn’t open, you can choose Mobile BankID and scan the QR code with your own BankID on another phone or tablet. Never scan a QR code that someone else has sent you.

Children and schools

How do I add a child from another school?

Go to Settings → Add a child. If the school uses SchoolSoft, choose Fetch the child from SchoolSoft and type the school’s name as it appears in the SchoolSoft address. If the school doesn’t use SchoolSoft, choose Enter the child yourself.

How is the child’s school chosen?

When you fetch the week from SchoolSoft, a child without a school is given the school you logged in to. Children who already have a school keep it. You can change the school under Settings → School, municipality and holidays.

How do I add homework that isn’t in SchoolSoft?

Tap + at the top of the start page, or Add homework in the child’s homework. Choose the child, the subject and when the homework is due. You add a parents’ meeting or an outing as an event in the same place.

Can we switch off points, chores or grade money?

Yes. Go to Settings, choose the child and switch off what you don’t want to use under What is used: points and rewards, chores, the prize of the week and grade money. Each home chooses for itself, for each child. Chores and the prize of the week give points, so they are only used when points are on.

How do I connect the children’s phones?

Go to Settings → Sharing and tap Connect …’s phone on the child’s card. Tap Send the link and send it to the child’s phone, for example in a text message. When the link is opened on the child’s phone, it is connected. This is done once; after that, homework, points and packages arrive by themselves.

How do I share a child with another adult?

Go to Settings → Sharing and tap Share with an adult on the child’s card. Choose whether the person lives in your home or has a home of their own, tap Create code and send the link. Only guardians can share a child onwards.

Can I see the team’s training sessions from laget.se?

Yes. Go to Settings, choose the child and tap Add team under Teams on laget.se. Paste the address of the team’s page on laget.se. Training sessions, matches and meeting times then appear in the child’s week.

Can I save the school’s weekly letter in the app?

Yes. Save the PDF from the e-mail in Files (touch and hold the attachment in Mail and choose Save to Files). Then tap Add letter under Letters from the school on the child’s page or on the overview, and choose the file. Images work too. The letter is stored only on your phone.

What does the letter summary do?

When you add a letter, the app can summarise it: the most important points in a few sentences, what to bring or do, and the dates mentioned in the letter. The dates end up in the child’s week and under Upcoming. The letter is then sent to our server, which reads it with an AI service and replies straight away; the server does not store the letter, and nothing about your family is sent with it. You are asked the first time, and can switch it off or on under Settings → Apple Intelligence. Always check against the letter if something is important.

Can the app show when the bus leaves?

Yes. Go to Settings, choose the child and tap Add journey under Bus and train. Search for the stop the child travels from, and preferably choose the line and direction too. In the morning the next departures to school are shown on the child’s page, and after school the departures home – in real time and with delays. It works for SL, UL, Västtrafik, Skånetrafiken and all other operators in Sweden; the times come from Trafiklab.se, and real time is shown where the operator provides it.

How do I approve homework on the child’s phone?

The child taps I’m done! when the homework is finished. Enter your PIN on the child’s phone, and the child gets the points. The child cannot approve it themselves.

What do the children see in their app?

The child sees their own week, their homework, points, rewards and chores. Teachers’ assessments and grade money are only shown if you switch that on under Settings → Adult mode. Whatever the home has switched off for the child is not shown.

Can I get tests and homework in the phone’s calendar?

Yes. Switch on Tests and meetings in Calendar or Homework in Reminders under Settings → Reminders and calendar.

Holidays, crafts and games

Where do I see the countdown to the holiday?

At the top of the app, on the overview and on each child’s page. Choose the school and municipality for each child under Settings → School, municipality and holidays.

Where do the holiday dates come from?

From the municipalities’ own websites. Independent schools often have the same holidays as the municipality, but not always. Check with the school and change the dates if they differ.

A holiday is missing or has the wrong dates

Go to Settings → School, municipality and holidays and tap Change the dates. Choose the first and last day off in the calendar and tap Save the dates. The school’s own information always applies.

How do I challenge the family to a game?

Finish the game and tap Challenge. The person you challenge scans the QR code with Skolkoll and gets the same board. Games for two, such as Noughts and crosses, you play on the same phone.

Security

I’ve forgotten my PIN

Tap Forgotten your PIN? when the app asks for the code. Unlock with Face ID or the phone’s passcode and choose a new PIN.

What happens if I change or lose my phone?

The data is only on the phone, so we cannot restore it. Do save a backup under Settings → Backup. If you have iCloud backup on the phone, the data can also come along to your new iPhone. You can always fetch the school timetable again from SchoolSoft.

How do I delete everything?

Go to Settings → Delete all data, or delete the app. Then everything disappears from the phone.
